Our Keiki First
Kauai Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) was founded in the Spring of 2025 due to the cancellation of the soccer season by the existing soccer association, KSA.
The Directors of Club from 6 different clubs (Po’ohala, Braveheart, Keahi, Kaleimanu, Mana and Onipaa) decided to form their own association in order to provide a continued opportunity for the kids of Kaua’i to play soccer.
KYSA was built on the foundation of transparency and equal rights for every member organization. Each founding club had one voting member on the board of Directors, and since then the board has grown by three members (a referee coordinator, a registrar and a treasurer) who are all independent members not representing a specific club. Each season, any club that is admitted to the league will have a seat at the table of the board of directors, and every club with a minimum of 3 teams (two of which have to be U9 or older) will have a voting seat on the board of directors. At KYSA, we make sure that no family has more than 1 vote and all the major decisions are discussed and voted on by the entire board.
Since its inaugural season, KYSA has operated a league under the umbrella of SAY soccer, who is a U.S. Soccer affiliated national governing body, along with US Youth Soccer, US Club soccer and AYSO, that has supported thousands of soccer programs since 1967. The league is fully insured under SAY soccer and every registered player is fully covered under the governing organization.
Going into it’s 4th Season, KYSA has grown to now include EIGHT clubs and over 350 youth soccer players. The continued success is due to the unwavering support from the community, the selfless work of all the volunteers, and the trust Kauai families continue to show our organization. KYSA realizes that a divided Kauai is not as strong as a united one, and our board of directors has made and continues to make every effort to bring the two leagues together under one umbrella, with equal representation for all clubs and a brighter future with new leadership at the local level, as well as representation at the state level. KYSA continues its efforts to join the Hawaii Youth Soccer Association and US Club soccer in order to give the kids on Kauai the same opportunities as the kids on the other islands.
